Solar Mounting Systems
An Introduction to Solar Panel Mounting Systems
Solar panels are used to provide different pieces of equipment or buildings with electricity. These panels are powered by sunlight, which is what enables them to provide the energy to the device or building. If you are thinking of adding solar panels to your home, you will want to consider the best solar panel mounting system for you. Here is more information about the various types of solar mounting.
Flush mounts, roof/ground mounts, and pole solar mounts are the three main types of solar mounting systems available. When considering which is best for your home or business, you need to consider the type of building as well as the electrical needs of the space. Before deciding which type of solar mounting system to use, here are some pros and cons of each to consider.
The first type of mount is the flush mount. This is the least expensive type of mount, and is the easiest type of mount to install. The panels are fastened to the surface of your choice using metal brackets attached to each side of the panel. They also have the added benefit of being lightweight and have wind resistance. The best space for these flush mounts are on the roofs of homes and on the roof of RVs. Though they do have their pros, they also have some cons. These mounts are not meant to be used with larger solar panels. Only certain roofs can use flush mounts, so make sure yours is compatible. Before installing the mounts, the panels have to already be wired to the home. In addition, they have little to no flexibility, so they can only be placed on certain areas of the roof.
The next type of Solar racking system is the roof/ground mount. As the name states, these mounts can be used both on the roof or on the ground. This large, rectangular panel is mounted by legs that are connected to the building. This panel can be angled, based on the location of the sun, to optimize the amount of sun exposure. They are also priced reasonably and can be used on most buildings and by most panels. These mounts, however, are not aesthetically pleasing, they need very strong mounts in high winds, and may have restrictions in certain states.
The last type of solar mounting system is the pole mount. These can be mounted in three ways, top of pole mount, in which the panels sit on top of the pole, side of pole mount, in which the panels are fastened to the side of the pole, and pole tracking mount, in which the panels are fastened to the top of the pole but can track the location of the sun. Pole mounts are easy to access and, therefore, easy to wire, and can be raised or lowered if there is an obstruction. Pole mounts do, however, have additional construction costs to ensure the mount is anchored securely into the ground.
Obtaining electricity in your home or building is simple with the use of solar panels. Make sure you use the correct Solar mounting system for your building's needs.
